Tinkering Toward Transformation

The Center on Reinventing Public Education just released a new study, “Tinkering Toward Transformation,” that looks at the current state of Washington schools that received federal school improvement grants. While some efforts have been successful, overall the results are not yet what was expected. The study cites districts’ lack of planning, tight timelines, limited school autonomy and a “kitchen sink” approach to turning schools around.
